Across Units 1-7, students move from creativity and idea generation, through thinking like an artist and identity in line and color, into observational drawing, and finish the semester covering two of the seven Elements of Art in depth: Line (Unit 6) and Shape (Unit 7). Every unit is self-paced, with no teacher prep, no lesson planning, no pacing guide and no due dates anywhere.

HOW IT WORKS
Every unit follows the same five-part structure: Start Here, Learn and Do, Check Yourself, Stuck? Help Desk, and Go Deeper. A student who completes Unit 1 already knows exactly how to work through Unit 7. Each unit runs 5-10 hours, spread over 1-3 weeks at the student's own pace, for a semester total of roughly 42-56 hours of work.

Everything downloads immediately after checkout. Each unit's guide and handouts arrive as PDFs, and each unit includes an Access Your Slides sheet with the view-only link to that unit's deck. Start with the Unit 1 guide and work forward.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Common supplies across these seven units: sketchbook or paper, pencils and an eraser, colored pencils, markers or paint, a camera or phone to photograph finished work, and internet access. Each unit's guide lists anything additional it needs. Nothing on any list is specialty art-store equipment.

FAQ
Does my student need to attend a live class?No. There are no live sessions and no scheduled meetings. Everything a student needs is in the guide, the handouts and the slides.
How much of this do I have to teach?None of it. The guide is written to the student, not to you. There is no pacing guide to follow and nothing to prep.
How long does the semester take?Each unit runs 5-10 hours over 1-3 weeks at the student's own pace, which comes to roughly 42-56 hours for the full semester. There are no due dates.
What supplies do we need?Sketchbook or paper, pencils and an eraser, colored pencils, markers or paint, a camera or phone, and internet access. Each unit's guide lists anything extra, and every unit's Help Desk has a substitution for anything you don't have on hand.
What if my student gets stuck?Every unit has a Stuck? Help Desk section written around the specific problems students actually hit in that unit, with a concrete way through each one. That section is what replaces the teacher standing next to them.
How is the work graded?Students self-assess against a single-point rubric in each unit and check their own answers against a self-check key written for them to use.
Can I use this for a high school art credit?Yes. Seven units at 5-10 hours each is built to support a one-semester fine arts credit, and every unit is aligned to the National Core Arts Standards.
Is there a Semester 2?Units 8-14 make up Semester 2 and will be available by Dec. 31, 2026.
